Despite the US losing to Ghana on Saturday 2-1, it was still a fun run with all the thrilling games, even going back to last summer with the Federations Cup where the US beat #1 Spain and nearly knocked off Brazil to win it all.
This World Cup was a bit better this year than it was for the Americans in 2006, when they didn’t even make it to the knockout round. This year they had a thrilling come from behind tie against Slovenia. Following that, they needed a win against Algeria to get into the knockout round. And they did that. In dramatic fashion nonetheless. In the 91st minute, Landon Donovan scored one of the more memorable goals in US soccer history. And below is reaction from around the globe to the goal.
